Carole's News

Well, seeing as I can't think of anything to blog about in my own life, I'll update you all on my twin. Most of you either are related to her or read her blog anyway. She's on a pearling ship off the west coast of Australia, and spends a fortune to call me on her cell phone once in a while. There are about 20 people on the boat, mostly Australians. She is really loving the chance to get to know real Australians and experience such a new work environment. All of the jobs she has worked in the past were very female-oriented (female boss, female work environment) so life of the ship is a bit of a change. And of course, there's the lack of space. She said some nights she just has to ignore everyone and curl up on her bunk with a book. She said it is fabulous being out on the ocean with the summer breeze and sunshine. Her favorite job is something called "scooping" and her least favorite job is emptying and cleaning the nets (something about little crabs crawling out). The last time she called, she was in Broome. She said two cyclones were heading their way and she wanted me to tell everyone not to worry (they are very careful not to go out if there is any chance of very bad weather). So she sounds very, very happy and currently has a ticket booked home at the end of April. The next job lined up is at a ski resort (remember, summer at home is winter there). Lucky duck, that's all I can say!

Kathy, I'm very confussed with the word "home". Which home are you referring to? It can't be this home if she's going to work at the ski resort. Love Mom

Thanks for the update, Kathy. I'm glad to hear she's not miserable out there on the ship.
