Graduation
Last Saturday was the graduation at school. The grade six ceremony was in the morning and the grade nines in the afternoon. Surprisingly they were equally as grand, despite the fact the grade six students are simply graduating to the next floor of the school. This picture is of the grade nine students receiving awards. They also had each student parade across to receive their diploma. I was cracking up because of the music they play. It's a perky instrumental musicals soundtrack including the Star Wars theme and, oddly enough, "Surrey with a Fringe on Top" from Oklahoma. But, best of all, was watching grade nine boys walk across the stage to the Gigi classic...Thank heavens, for little girls,

They grow up in the most surprising way.
This was one of the many indications that our graduation was different from the norm. The front row was all VIPs and there were a couple different news channels in attendance. I thought it was a tad rude to do an interview in the middle of a grad ceremony, though!
In true Fuhsing fashion, the front of the school was decked out. In the basement there were more flowers than you could even count. More than would be at even the nicest wedding at home. People seem to love to use flowers and bouquets in Taiwan, but appreciated them much less than we do in North America. Maybe because they are so common they lose their value?
